The humble can of baked beans or beans in tomato sauce have got to be one of the most underated foods in a can ever. There are so many things you can do with them!
Firstly there’s the simple student food of beans on toast.

Beans go wonderfully in chili con carne. Add some sour cream and you’ve got a hearty meal.
Warmed beans with chopped up frankfurters are a great kids staple. When we were kids we called this a cowboy supper.
Even better, a can of baked beans, 1/2 a chopped onion and chopped cubes of mature cheddar cheese make a fabulous salad. And if there’s leftovers? Heat the rest of the salad in the microwave and serve on toast. The creamy onion-y flavoured beans are just the ticket for a nutritious breakfast.
Of you could place the beans into the centre of an omelette!
